Cape Town Practice Group

Welcome to the Tergar Cape Town Practice Group! We gather regularly both in person and online to cultivate our practice and foster a sense of connection and support.

Here’s an overview of our sessions and how you can join us:

Tuesday Sessions
We come together every Tuesday online, offering two distinct practice groups:

Tuesday Morning Practice Group – Bardo Teachings
This group caters to meditators with some experience. It started in February 2017 and most of the regular participants have completed all three levels of the Joy of Living. Sessions include meditating together, watching videos, and group discussions. This group is currently working through the Bardo courses on the Vajrayana Online website. This group is open to everyone, but it is necessary to first subscribe to the Vajrayana Online website, https://learning.tergar.org. Various payment plans are available, and Tergar ensures that financial limitations should not hinder access to these teachings. If you require support, please contact [email protected]. One can unsubscribe at any time.

Please contact the group co-ordinator for more information about this practice group.

Thursday Evening Practice Group
This practice group is a South Africa wide group and is open to everyone, irrespective of your meditation experience. In this group meditators are introduced to the teachings of Mingyur Rinpoche through short videos and quotations, followed by a combination of guided and unguided meditations. We share a common interest in meditation and a wish to explore love, compassion and wisdom. This group provides an ideal environment for a first introduction to Mingyur Rinpoche’s teachings. It also provides an opportunity for individuals with an existing Tergar meditation practice to deepen their personal practice within a supportive community of meditators. Please contact the group coordinator for more information. You are also welcome to join the group directly via the following WhatsApp link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/E9KQ35A3FTz6vkBU4CLorp

Time: 6:00pm – to 6:40pm CAT Online on Zoom

Nectar of the Path practice group – Each weekday morning
This is a practice group for Nectar of the Path practitioners. Nectar of the Path is a concise liturgy composed by Mingyur Rinpoche to distill the key points of the Buddhist path as a reminder for daily practice. We practice together each weekday morning. Please contact the group coordinators for more information. The Nectar of the Path practice is open to anyone.

Time: 6am-6:30am CAT online on Zoom each weekday morning (Monday to Friday)

In-Person Sessions
On the 2nd Wednesday of every month, we meet in person for a guided meditation followed by a bring-and-share dinner. This provides an opportunity to connect our community and to deepen our practice together. We also meet in an ad-hoc way for other kinds of in-person get togethers.

For any further inquiries or more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]. We look forward to meditating and growing together with you!
